I’m a writer. If you know any writers, that says a lot right there. After publishing several books under a pen name, I finally sold as me! Yay. Altered Destinies publishes in 2011 through Carina Press. I’m married to the most amazing man on the planet and have six awesome kids, all of whom keep me very busy.
I don’t claim to have loads of sage advice or expertise on any one thing but I love to write and if you love to read then well, it’s a good thing all around.
Don’t expect brilliant writing, grammar or punctuation, this is where I play, not work. So there will be typos and run ons and convoluted sentences. This is kinda more how I think than I write, but that’s rather a scary thought, isn’t it?
I love to garden, experiment in the kitchen, to read and write and to do all of that, it’s a good thing I also love coffee. Spending a warm spring (or fall) morning outside with a cup of coffee and a good book is like, well, if not quite heaven, close.
I have a big back yard and (almost) enough fruit trees to satisfy my urge to pick fruit. If I keep looking in the garden catalogs, it’s only because I’m addicted to the idea of fruit, not because I have the time or the space for it… unless I take out some the grass… ; )
Shawna, good luck with both the writing and the blogging. Perseverance pays off. And I love the picture of the corner garden….very inspiring!
[…] Shawna Thomas: Who manages to juggle 5 kids AND writing. I am consistently amazed. She totally can’t be old enough to have 5 kids… […]
Hi Shawna,
I also love gardening, reading and coffee! I’m introducing myself because I just signed on as ‘Madera County Gardening Examiner’ lol! I’m just beginning, so… don’t have a clue, buuut, I do have an obsession with gardening, and although, I’ve never thought of myself as a writer, it’s a blast so far (if I can keep up with the Examiner.com changes going on.)
My husband and I moved up here from So Cal, which I’ve heard from the locals here is simply called ‘LA’ We’ve been coming to Bass Lake for 12 years or so, on vacation and made the move 5 years ago.
We also have 5 kids, but they are all out of the house now. We hope they come up on ‘their’ vacations.
How did you get your love of gardening?
Congratulations on becoming an Examiner. I love being the Fresno Gardening Examiner…. I’ll subscribe to your articles and reference you in mine.
I’ve always had an affinity with things growing. When I moved out on my own, I had a tiny garden and made a lot of mistakes, but the successes were enough to keep me going.
Congratulations again and thanks for stopping by!
Thanks, I’ll do the same! It will be nice to make some new friends as well.
Sue
I am amazed. I have one child and am having trouble finding enough time to write. I can’t even imagine five.
